Lamentations 3: 22-24
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
We have to recognize that by Jehovah’s mercy we have not been consumed, since if by our works we were automatically judged I believe that none of us had life yet, but God, who is great in mercy, allows them to be renewed every morning, for he is great our Fidelity.
So in this new year we have to propose to lead a more holy and pleasant life to his Word, because that is the perfect will of God for us. But there are some words that are very useful in these verses to apply them to our lives. To live according to the will of God and they are these: “My portion is Jehovah, said my soul; therefore I will trust in him ”(v. 24)
Like the writer of Lamentations we have to recognize that our portion is Jehovah and therefore we have to wait on Him. Waiting on Him means placing all our trust fully in Him, not having the slightest doubt, blindly depending on Him.
Generally we are filled with bitterness, sadness, anger and all the negative that our soul can carry, because we simply do not want to accept and understand the authority of the Word of God. Imagine that even when we do not wait on Him, His mercies are new every morning, then what would it be like if we began to fully wait on Him? Without a doubt our life would be a total blessing.
There are moments in our life that we believe that God has not been there, but what we have to understand is that there are a lot of things that are not God’s will, but our human will wants those things to also be included in the will of God. Something that no matter how much we want, we can never change and we will have to accept out of obedience.
If the mercy of God exists for something, it is because he wants us all to have the opportunity to correct our mistakes, but beyond making mistakes in this new year, we have to dispose our hearts and our whole being to a single thing, and this is : “To wait on Him.”
I invite you that this new year you can learn to wait on Him, and you will begin to experience God’s blessings in ways and forms very different from what you have experienced until now.
